Hey everybody, here’s a song by Mr. Legend himself. “All of Me.” It’s a very pretty song. It’s a little bit more complicated than I was expecting when I originally set out to learn it. So we will break up the song into a few parts which I’m going to put onto the screen right now. Just watch the screen and you’ll know which part we are focusing on. Here’s the first part of the song. Basically the chords are like this: (Plays John Legend – All of Me). It’s like that. I’m sure you recognize it right away. So we’re playing Fm. Go down an octave and play the F there. With your left hand, jump down to the Cand we will move from Fm up to Cmaj chord. Then we will move our left hand down to G#. We will keep our middle finger here on our Gas we swivel our hand like so. In this way we are playing G#maj. Keep your thumb here and move your other fingers over. Then you can move your left hand down to D#. It’s those 4 chords in a row. This is how the song starts.

(Plays John Legend – All of Me) If you listen to the song though, you’ll notice it switches up. This is the 2nd way this verse part is being played. This starts at, “What’s going on in that beautiful mind?” It’s really the same chords but just moves down a note for each of them. Instead of being this (plays chord) for the F — you are going to keep your bass notes as the same. (Plays bass notes) With your right hand it’s going to switch from this. Now your pinky finger will go where your middle finger once was. You’ll move your hand like this. Now you’re playing C, F, G#. We are still playing Fm… this is an Fm chord. It will be like this now, again it starts at, “What’s going on in that beautiful mind?” part. It’s going to be like: (Plays John Legend All of Me). You see it sounds very similar to what we had before. Again, that is the Fm.

Then move up and play the chord. Then we’ll move into the chord. In this case, your pointer finger should be resting on the D#, so just pick up your middle finger, and keep your pinky right there too where it was and move your thumb down to C. Then we will do some more hand swiveling action over here to our chord. See how I had it like this? Keep your pointer finger there and just swivel your hand. Now you will play this: Bb, D#, G. There you go, that is the 2nd verse part there. Next is the bridge that goes into the chorus. Let’s see if I can get this right. (Plays John Legend – All of Me – Bridge) For here we would be playing the Bbmin chord. We will play it down here like so. We will play Bb down here for the bass also. This is where the song gets more complicated because its not just basic chords. We are playing C#, F, Bb. I will play it slowly and show on screen what notes are being played. (Plays: John Legend – All of Me – Bridge) Did you see that? Then we will play the Gchord and then move our hand down to Djust like in the last line.

Lets play it one more time: Plays (Plays: John Legend – All of Me – Bridge). Right before the chorus, play this: Bb, and D#. This is also apart of the Dchord. You know that part. That was the bridge part. Here is the main chorus part. This is what it sounds like: (Plays: John Legend – All of Me – Chorus).

For that first part of the chorus, we will go back to the Gchord but we are going to fully extend our hands like so. Start it off like this. Turn your hand, pivot and play this chord. Then we will play the chord from Dto C to G(Repeats). Then jump down here for a variation of the Fm chord. This time, again, we will extend our hands. This is what it’s going to be like for the whole chorus (extended hands). Start by having it on F and C and your thumb on C down here. ( Plays: John Legend – All of Me – Chorus) When you play it with the bass line it sounds like this (John Legend – All of Me – Chorus). Here its G and then G#. Then we jump to the fully extended C#maj chord. It will sound like this: (John Legend – All of Me – Chorus). This is C#, F, G#, and C#.

(John Legend – All of Me – Chorus) Instead of jumping directly back up to D#, you’ll notice that after that part it stays with Ca moment before going up to D#. It will sound like this. Stay with Cwith F and G#. Jump up to Dnow. (Repeats) The D chord is D#, G, Bb, D#. Lets hear it one more time. (John Legend – All of Me – Chorus) You will repeat that part again until you get to the 2nd part of the chorus which is an interesting part. It goes like this: (John Legend – All of Me – 2nd half of Chorus). It’s the same chord progression as the first part of the song. It’s going to be F, C#, G#, D#. That is what we are doing with the left hand. Now watch what we do up here. Again these are all just variations of the same chords you were playing which would be Fm, C#, G#, and then D#. Watch how the fingers go. G#, C, F, G, F. Then you move your left hand down to C#.

(John Legend – All of Me – 2nd half of Chorus) Then to C(left hand): (Right hand) F, C, F, D#, C. Then you go down to the Gwith your left hand. Then with your pointer finger and your pinky finger you can play Bb and Dand then back down to the G one. (John Legend – All of Me – 2nd half of Chorus) Keep your pinky finger and pointer finger there and just slide your thumb on down.

Then move your left hand down to D#. Then move it back up to the top to do it one more time! (Plays: John Legend – All of Me – 2nd half of Chorus) Be careful of your timing here when you are (moving left hand to C#) jumping to this. (Plays: John Legend – All of Me – 2nd half of Chorus) Here you see I was holding it out. If you listen to the song, you’ll know at which point you need to move it down. (Plays: John Legend – All of Me – 2nd half of Chorus) It’s like that. There are two more parts to go. We have the break in the song, and that is when he starts saying, “Cards on the table!…” We will play that Bb chord again that we were playing before.

You can give it a little pizzazz by going. (Plays: John Legend – All of Me – Break) Move your thumb down to the C. (Sings: “Cards on the table…”) So we have this here, and then move down to C. Then jump up here with your right hand for Bb, C, and C#. Then move your left hand down to Gjust like before. You can even move your right hand thumb down to Bb. Then swivel that hand for a good old D#: Bb, D#, G. Again it will be kind of like this. (Plays: John Legend – All of Me – Break) You go back into the chorus at that point and at the end you’ll notice the chorus is slightly different. This is close to what it is like.

I probably don’t have the fingering down perfectly, but it would probably sound the same if you were singing along to it. This is the last two lines of the song. (Plays: John Legend – All of Me – Normal Chorus) Instead of this, like we were doing before, it’s going to be like this: (Plays: John Legend – All of Me – Final Chorus). You’ll notice that this part down here is pretty much the same. Before that he will go up again like this. Move down to Clike normal with your left hand. This time move up to Gwith your right hand: G#, Bb, G, F. Then you can go down here. Again it will sound like this: (Plays: John Legend – All of Me – Final Chorus). You could finish off the whole song like that.

You could play the Dchord up here. I don’t remember how he ends the song. He probably just cuts it off right there. But, hey its always nice to add on that higher note! That’s it!
