Your Gut is Shaped By Past Experiences
Your gut is giving you signals not based on fear, but on knowledge. You have learned from every experience you have ever had, good or bad. Maybe if it were 5 years ago, the exact same situation wouldn’t have given you any signal at all, because your intuition hadn’t yet learned something from your experiences. But now you’re wiser, you have learned from your mistakes, you have experienced more, and your gut knows when to warn you.
This Instinct Connects With Your Entire Body
How you choose to react to different situations is connecting you deeper with your intuition. The first step in listening to your gut, is feeling what it is telling you. Consider when you get a sudden tingle in your spine, the feeling of butterflies in your stomach, when your chest tightens, or the hairs raise on your arm. These could be nothing, but they could also be very subtle signs from your subconscious that you need to stop and think before making your next action.
- YOUR DREAMS ARE EXTREMELY VIVID. …
- YOU ARE AWARE OF YOUR EMOTIONS. …
- YOU ARE EMPATHETIC. …
- YOU ARE SELF-AWARE. …
- YOU ARE OBSERVANT OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS. …
- YOU ARE CREATIVE. …
- YOU PLAY DEVIL’S ADVOCATE. …
- YOU TEND TO BE AN INTROVERT.
Trust the Unconscious Part of Your Brain
There are three parts to your conscious brain – the conscious, where you are completely aware of everything right at this moment. The subconscious, where you are thinking and analyzing your thoughts and memories to try to remember something. And your unconscious, where you go based more on your instincts. The unconscious is what you want to tap into when listening to your gut.
Journal to Get More Clarity
Believe it or not, journaling on a regular basis can help you find clarity into your own natural instincts. Start writing more about your day, in as much detail as you can. Include what was going through your mind before making a choice or completing a task, if you felt anything during a conversation with someone new, or anything unusual that you noticed. Over time, the trends you see might point to when your intuition was actually trying to tell you something.
Intuition comes in several forms:
– a sudden flash of insight, visual or auditory
– a predictive dream
– a spinal shiver of recognition as something is occurring or told to you
– a sense of knowing something already
– a sense of deja vu
– a snapshot image of a future scene or event
– knowledge, perspective or understanding divined from tools which respond to the subconscious mind
― Sylvia Clare
Though intuition can be used to warn you of bad things and dangerous situations, that doesn’t mean that you have turned away from the positives in life. If you are able to see the silver lining and look towards the good in life, even after your intuition has warned you of something bad, you will be more able to connect with your intuitive nature.
Intuition is all about being aware of yourself, your thoughts, your emotions, and the world around you, including the little things. It’s much like a sixth sense, and not one that everyone has. If you have always dismissed these feelings as gut reactions, or paranoia, or perhaps just plain lucky guesses, you may be a powerfully intuitive person without even knowing it. However, if you find yourself checking off a lot of these experiences, you may be able to tap into that inner understanding of yourself and the world around you.
